Red Bluff

Red Bluff has been nicknamed Mississippi's Little Grand Canyon. It is located outside of Foxworth in the Morgantown community in Marion County.

It is estimated that the geological formation known as Red Bluff is elevated to around 400 feet above sea level, consisting of exposed red clay, soil, sand, and many other colorful sediments caused by millions of years of natural erosion of the Pearl River which is nearby. The bluff continues to expand due to this erosion on the west bank of the Pearl River, and has caused movement of the nearby Highway 587 at least twice. There is a sharp 200 foot slope into a creek that flows into the Pearl River. "The gorge is over 150 feet deep, half a mile wide and nearly a mile long". (Clarion Ledger Website)

Red Bluff sits on privately owned land.
